DESCRIPTION

The Via Ferrata Course Slovenia is a practical introduction to protected climbing routes. You learn how to move efficiently on rungs and cables, manage your lanyard set, and read terrain so you stay safe and relaxed throughout the climb. Our certified guides keep the groups small; therefore, coaching is personal and focused.

What you’ll learn

  • Correct use of via ferrata set (lanyards, energy absorber, and carabiners)
  • Clipping sequence, resting, and passing anchors
  • Footwork on metal rungs and rock, plus balance on traverses
  • Basic rope support for exposed sections, when appropriate
  • Route reading, pace management, and simple risk assessment

Who it’s for

This via ferrata course suits beginners as well as hikers and climbers who want a structured refresher. No previous climbing experience is required; however, a basic level of fitness and comfort with heights helps.

Locations & routes

We usually train on accessible routes in western Slovenia (for example Vipava Valley) and, when conditions allow, on other ferratas across the Julian Alps. Sites are chosen for stable weather, good access, and clear progression, so your day stays efficient and enjoyable.

Equipment

We provide helmets and harnesses on request, and we can arrange a via ferrata set rental. You should bring sturdy approach shoes or light boots, comfortable outdoor clothing, gloves, water, and a small backpack. If you don’t have technical gear, we can supply it with prior arrangement.

Why train with OVX
