DESCRIPTION
Climb Grossglockner with us and reach Austria’s highest peak at 3,798 m. It’s one of the most iconic alpine climbs in Europe. You can choose between the classic Normal Route, which is more straightforward, or the Studlgrat Ridge, which is steeper and more exposed. Both are real challenges, but they offer different ways to the top.
Both routes begin with a scenic approach through the Ködnitztal valley. Along the way you’ll pass mountain huts and then spend the night in a cozy alpine refuge. On the second day, the climb becomes more demanding with glacier crossings and steep ridgelines. In the end, the reward is a summit with wide views across the Eastern Alps.
Professional OVX IFMGA guides lead the climb and handle all logistics, gear, and safety. You’ll need good fitness and some experience with crampons and ice axe, since both are required for glacier travel and steep snow. The routes range from PD+ (II+) to AD+ (III+), with up to 1,900 meters of elevation gain over two days.
👉 This is not a beginner’s climb, so some alpine experience is necessary.
💰 Price: from €500 per person – advanced booking is required.
