DESCRIPTION

The Triglav Ski Touring Traverse, often called the Slovenian Haute Route, is a three-day ski mountaineering journey across the Julian Alps. With OutventureX guides, you’ll move through wild winter landscapes, ski long descents, and cross some of Slovenia’s most beautiful alpine terrain.

Route overview

The tour begins at Vogel and continues across the Komna plateau, the Valley of the Seven Lakes, and Hribarice Pass. From there, you cross Velo Polje and finish in the Krma Valley beneath Triglav. In total, the route links together high ridges, remote valleys, and long ski runs. It offers the perfect mix of alpine touring and challenging backcountry travel.

History and navigation

This route was first skied in the 1970s and has since become a classic. It is marked with winter signs, but many are now faded or missing. Because of this, navigation can be tricky, especially in fog around Komna. However, with experienced OVX guides, you can travel safely and focus on enjoying the skiing.

Difficulty and fitness

The Slovenian Haute Route requires good fitness, as sections involve long ascents and traverses with skis. Our guides adapt the pace and daily plan to the group, making sure that the focus stays on skiing rather than endless walking. As a result, you’ll enjoy challenging climbs, rewarding descents, and an authentic winter mountaineering experience.

Why ski with OVX?

  • Three days of guided backcountry skiing in the Julian Alps
