Featured by National Geographic, this trek takes you through one of Slovenia’s hidden gems – the Karawanks Mountain Range. Over five days of hiking, you’ll experience quiet alpine trails, traditional huts, and stunning panoramas that define hut to hut hiking in Slovenia.
Your journey begins with a transfer to Tržič. From there, the trail leads to iconic huts such as Koča na Kriški Gori, Roblekov Dom, Planinski dom na Zelenici, Prešernova koča na Stolu, and Koča na Golici. Along the way, you’ll summit peaks like Stol and Golica, with endless views of rugged ridgelines and valleys below. The adventure ends at Lake Bled, where you can relax before returning to Ljubljana.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Ljubljana - Tržič
Flight to Ljubljana and transfer from Ljubljana airport to glamping near Tržič. Warm-up hike (there and back) to Koča na Kriški Gori mountain hut (1,471m).
Hike from Tržič to Planinski dom na Zelenici or Dom pri Izviru Završnice
Hike from Tržič to Planinski dom na Zelenici mountain hut (1,536m), via Roblekov Dom (1,657m). Option to include Veliki Vrh summit (2,060m) – during this trail, you will also passKoča an Dobrči(1478 m), Koča na Prevalu (1311 m).
Hike from Planinski dom na Zelenici to Prešernova koča na Stolu
Hike from Planinski dom na Zelenici to Prešernova koča na Stolu mountain hut (2174m), via the summit of Stol (2,236m)
Hike from Prešernova koča na Stolu to Koča na Golici mountain hut

CONDITIONS
Booking needs to be done at least 1 month in advance.
Necessary gear/clothes:
- Comfortable mountain sports clothes
- Windproof jackets
- Spare socks, underwear, and shirts
- Headwear (cap, buff)
- Summer mountaineering boots/shoes
- Backpack of at least 30-40 L
- Headlamp
- Snacks&Drinks (1-2L) (to cover distances between huts – up to 16 km)
- Sunscreen, suncream, toothbrush
Necessary technical gear:
There are no specific technical gear required. However, hiking poles are recommended.
