Featured in the Financial Times
OutVenture X was recently featured in the Financial Times travel article “In search of a summer adventure? Triglav is calling”, which follows a guided journey from Lake Bohinj through Triglav National Park to the summit of Mount Triglav.
The article captures what makes this experience so special: the quiet beauty of Lake Bohinj, the tradition of Slovenian mountain huts, the dramatic limestone landscapes of the Julian Alps and the deep cultural meaning of standing on Slovenia’s highest mountain.

Why This Trek?
Most Triglav tours focus on reaching the summit.
This journey is about experiencing the mountain.
Beginning above the crystal-clear waters of Lake Bohinj, you’ll climb onto the peaceful Komna Plateau before entering the legendary Seven Lakes Valley, one of the most beautiful protected alpine landscapes in Europe.
Each day reveals a different character of the Julian Alps: quiet alpine forests, emerald glacial lakes, shepherd settlements, vast limestone plateaus and dramatic summit ridges shaped over millions of years.
Along the way, you’ll discover Slovenia’s unique mountain hut culture — homemade apple strudel at Koča pod Bogatinom, lunch beside Double Lake, sunset at Prehodavci, dinner beneath Triglav’s summit at Kredarica and a final traditional mountain meal in the peaceful pastures of Uskovnica.
Every detail has been chosen deliberately.
This is not simply a hiking itinerary.
It is a journey through Slovenia’s mountain heritage.

No climbing experience is required, but participants should feel comfortable walking on exposed mountain terrain protected by steel cables. Your IFMGA Mountain Guide will provide instruction and ensure safe progression throughout the route.
This is not a race to the summit. It is a thoughtfully paced mountain journey designed to immerse you in the landscapes, traditions and culture that make Slovenia one of Europe’s most remarkable alpine destinations.
Why OutVentureX?
At OutVenture X, we believe the finest adventures are measured not only by the summits reached, but by the stories collected along the way.
We guide slowly enough to notice the changing light on limestone cliffs, to stop for homemade strudel in a mountain hut, to share lunch overlooking glacial lakes and to understand why these mountains occupy such an important place in Slovenian identity.
Every itinerary is designed by local mountain professionals who have spent decades exploring the Julian Alps.
Every guide is passionate about sharing not just the safest route, but the hidden details, traditions and moments that transform a great hike into a truly memorable experience.
Our goal is simple: To show you Slovenia as we would show it to our closest friends.

WHAT TO EXPECT
itinerary
Into the Julian Alps
Your adventure begins above Lake Bohinj, where forest trails climb steadily toward the broad limestone plateau of Komna.
The first day allows you to settle into the rhythm of hut-to-hut trekking while enjoying spectacular views across the southern Julian Alps.
The evening is spent at Dom na Komni, one of Slovenia’s classic mountain huts, where your first traditional alpine dinner sets the tone for the days ahead.
Through the Seven Lakes Valley
The morning begins with a stop at Koča pod Bogatinom, where homemade apple strudel and fresh coffee have become something of a ritual among Slovenian hikers.
From here, the trail enters the legendary Seven Lakes Valley, passing hidden glacial lakes, limestone basins and alpine meadows before reaching the emerald waters of Double Lake, where lunch is served at the famous Koča pri Triglavskih jezerih.
During the afternoon, the landscape gradually transforms. Forest gives way to bare limestone as the route climbs toward Prehodavci, one of the most spectacular viewpoints in Triglav National Park.
The day ends at Zasavska koča, where sunset colours the surrounding peaks in shades of gold and pink.
Into Triglav’s Limestone Kingdom
Today’s journey crosses the dramatic karst plateau of Hribarice, one of the most distinctive landscapes in the Julian Alps.
Coffee at Koča na Doliču offers the perfect excuse to pause before continuing beneath Triglav’s immense southern walls toward Planika Hut, where a relaxed mountain lunch awaits beneath Slovenia’s highest peak.
By afternoon, you’ll reach Triglavski dom na Kredarici, the highest mountain hut in Slovenia.
As the sun sets over the Julian Alps, tomorrow’s summit route rises directly above the hut — a constant reminder that the mountain’s greatest moment is still to come.
Sunrise on Slovenia’s Highest Mountain
Before dawn, accompanied by your IFMGA Mountain Guide, you’ll begin the ascent toward Mount Triglav.
As first light reaches the limestone ridge, the Julian Alps slowly emerge beneath you. Protected by steel cables, the final ridge offers one of the most rewarding summit experiences in Europe.
Standing atop Slovenia’s highest mountain at sunrise is a moment that stays with you long after the journey ends.
From the summit, the route continues across the southern ridge toward Planika Hut, where a well-earned morning coffee marks the beginning of the descent.
Further below, lunch at Vodnikov dom introduces another taste of traditional Slovenian mountain cuisine before the trail winds through alpine meadows and historic shepherd settlements toward Koča na Uskovnici.
Here, surrounded by peaceful pastures and centuries-old mountain traditions, you’ll enjoy a final celebratory meal before returning to the valley.
It is the perfect conclusion to four remarkable days in the heart of the Julian Alps.
